What do the participants have to do?
Each team interested in joining INVASORIAN project should:
Perform a litter-bag decomposition experiment in at least two streams (one of them flowing through a catchment affected by plantations or important management of the basin and the other through a natural riparian forest).

At each site:
•Basic water physicochemical characterization (pH, conductivity, temperature, and dissolved oxygen).
•Visual characterization of riparian plant communities.
•Characterization of benthic macroinvertebrates and leaf litter.
•Characterization of riverbank soil (humidity, organic matter content).
•Incubate leaf litter bags of 4 species both in terrestrial and aquatic environments.

All the process would imply three field trips during the fall of 2021:
•1st, incubation of bags in a terrestrial environment and taking soil and water samples.
•2nd, incubation of bags in the streams (half from those incubated in the terrestrial environment and others non-pre-incubated), and sampling of benthos.
•3rd, final collection of leaf-litter bags.
Participants must be members of SIBECOL (or associated societies) and have the means to do the field trips (i.e. vehicle), the water characterization (multiparametric probe) and to dry (oven, 70ºC) and burn (500ºC) the organic samples.
The project will provide the consumables (i.e. leaf litter of the different species and material to construct the litter bags) and reimburse the fuel expenses of the field trips.
Detailed protocols will be provided.
